The fall meeting and refresher of NSP Eastern Division Avalanche, Mountain Travel & Rescue, and Nordic instructors will be held at Northfield, Massachusetts, the weekend of September 5 – 7, 2008. Our hosts will be the Northfield Mountain Recreation and Environmental Center and the Northfield Mountain Nordic Ski Patrol.

Registration
There are no fees for this event. We will provide a light continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings and a picnic-style lunch Saturday. Attendees will make arrangements for other meals.

junction of I-91 and Route 2 near the intersection of Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Find driving

Camping
Barton Cove, managed by Northfield
Mountain, is the group campground for the event. The campsite is wooded and scenic. See photos of the
campgrounds and more details.

For those not staying at the group
campsite, overnight accommodations, ranging from motels to bed-and-breakfasts, are available nearby.

Cellphone service enroute should
be excellent on major highways. Verizon has strong reception at Northfield Mountain. Pay phones are available at Northfield and at the campsite. Emergency messages may be left at 800-859-2960.

Recreation at Northfield Mountain
Northfield Mountain offers a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Twenty-five miles of wide trails welcome horse riders, hikers, mountain bikers, runners, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers. The trails system connects with the tri-state Metacomet-Monadnock Trail, which runs from southern Connecticut to southern New Hampshire.
